christpher-vanderslice-web-gfxGRANDVILLE, Mich. — Principal Chris VanderSlice of Grandville High School sent a letter home to parents this week informing them that he is taking some time off to begin treatment for leukemia.  Now the community is rallying behind VanderSlice and his family.

“Your prayers and support will be important to me and my family as we walk this road together,” said VanderSlice in the letter that went home to parents.  “If there is nothing else that I have learned through my time at Grandville, I know the strength of the Bulldog nation.”

The prayers and support he mentioned are already coming in.  The Ivanrest Church has already put a new section on its website where members of the community can learn more about the challenges VanderSlice and his family are facing, in addition to what the family may need in terms of help.
