WASHINGTON - Two GOP leaders are now calling on Republican National Committeeman Dave Agema to resign.
In a joint statement today, national party chair Reince Priebus and Michigan chair Bobby Schostak said, “For the good of the party, we believe Dave Agema should resign.”
This is the first time we’re hearing Republican leadership call on the west Michigan Republican to step down.
Last week, former Michigan party chair Betsy DeVos said Agema should resign.
Several members of the GOP have echoed those calls.
Agema has been under fire for comments he has made about homosexuals and Muslims.
As part of his responsibilities as a committeeman, he was due in Washington, D.C. this week for the party’s winter meeting.
He never showed up, and instead sent in a proxy vote.
