GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.- I am sure if I asked for a raise of hands, regarding how many parents are about to pull their hair out, trying to entertain the kids this winter, there would be a lot of them in the air.

How about some great tips, for inexpensive fun “inside” the house, when it’s just too dangerous to go outside? I did some searching and here are a few things that I came up with , thanks to www.fleecefun.com

Keep in mind, I am only posting a few, but there are 40 ideas on this site alone!

Family Photo Bingo: You would take nine family photos, arrange them into rows of three, then give your child something to cover the pictures up with.  Randomly call out family members that are represented on the cards. Whomever gets three in a row, wins!

Indoor Bowling:This is great if you have empty plastic pop bottles or water bottles. You will also need to find an indoor friendly ball to use. Set the pins up in the diamond shape like you’d find at the bowling alley. You can’t bowl without silly shoes, right? So find some goofy shoes or slippers, maybe some fun shirts, too. If the bottles/cans fall down too easily, fill them with dry pasta or rice.

Homemade Twister: Using four different colors of construction paper, cut out four circles for each color and tape them to the floor. You can make your own spinner, or simply draw left hand, right hand, etc. out of a hat.

Polar Express: Move kitchen chairs, living room furniture, etc. in a row like a train. Make up fake boarding passes and let their kids use their imagination as to where they will be headed and see along their journey.

Make Snow Ice Cream: Scoop up snow in cups. And then you will need:

  • 1/2 cups half & half or whole milk
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla4 cups of clean snow or shaved ice

You will then blend the milk, sugar and vanilla together until the sugar dissolves. Then, add 4 cups of snow until you get the consistency of ice cream. You can add your favorite toppings and turn it into a sundae!
