Update: Shooting Suspect in Custody Following Standoff at Ferris State University

imageUPDATE : BIG RAPIDS, Mich.- Authorities tell FOX17 that charges against a male suspect connected to the off-campus shooting early Saturday morning are expected to be filed in the next 24 to 48 hours.

We’re learning that a female was also taken into custody Saturday night and is being questioned by the Mecosta County Sheriff’s Department, according to Ferris State University.

Fox 17 has been told a press conference is set for Sunday at 9 a.m. at the Ferris State University Department of Public Safety building.

BIG RAPIDS, Mich. – Authorities tell FOX17 a male suspect has been taken into  custody following a police standoff situation near Ferris State University.

The suspect was arrested around midnight following an all day search for a shooting suspect that was involved in an off-campus incident early Saturday morning.

Authorities are in the process of scheduling a Sunday morning press  conference to update the media on the arrest.  People that were evacuated  from nearby homes during the situation are now being allowed to return home.
