(Feb. 5, 2014) — Actor Tom Cruise is being sued for $1 billion for allegedly stealing the script idea for “Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol.”

Timothy Patrick McLanahan is suing Cruise, Paramount Pictures, Skydance Pictures and others for copyright infringement.

According to the DailyMail, the 2011 film grossed more than $600 million worldwide.  McLanahan claims the idea came from his script titled “Head On.”

McLanahan apparently settled on the $1 billion amount by adding up ticket sales, DVD and blu-ray sales as well as rentals, subscription sales and budget, according to RadarOnline, who broke the story.

“McLanahan is claiming his script was put in front of Cruise’s agent Rick Nicita, who is married to the star’s production partner Paula Wagner,” the DailyMail article says.
