CANNON TOWNSHIP, Mich (February 8, 2014) – Firefighters are working to get flames under control at a home in the 3700 block of McCabe Avenue in Cannon Township.

A neighbor tells FOX17 they spotted thick smoke pouring out of the home around 2:30 p.m. and called 9-1-1.

The owner tells FOX17 he happened to be at the bank when the fire started.  He says he wasn’t at home the night before and felt bad he hadn’t let his dogs out earlier in the day, so he dropped by and picked them up and took them with him to the bank, likely saving them from the fire.

No injuries have been reported.

Several crews are working to contain the fire, which has spread throughout the home.

A cause has yet to be determined at this point.

FOX17 has a crew at the scene learning more.  Look for a full update tonight on FOX17 News at Ten.
