GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (February 22, 2014) – Police are investigating two shootings in Grand Rapids, an officer said.

Officials said the first shooting happened inside a home on the 900 block  of Bates Street at 12:55 A.M. Saturday. They said a 20-year-old man was shot in the lower leg, suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken to Spectrum Hospital. Police say the victim ran out of the home, climbed up a neighbor’s porch and the residents called 911 when they saw the victim on their porch.

Police said the shooter remains on the run Saturday morning, and do not have further information on this suspect.

Then officials said there was a second shooting involving a car driving at Breton Road and 28th Street around 2:30 A.M Saturday. They said a man in his early 20’s was shot in the leg, hand and stomach. They said his injures were also non-life threatening, and he was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital.

Police say St. Mary’s called them when the shot-up car drove the victim to the hospital. Officials say at least three people were in the car as it was driving along 28th Street when the shooting happened, in front of a Chevrolet dealership, damaging the car.

Officials say this shooter is also on the run Saturday morning and have not further information on this suspect.

So far no arrests, and the investigations are ongoing. Police say they believe the shootings are unrelated and there’s no indication that drugs were involved at this time.
