GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (Feb. 28, 2014) — After their train was stuck in some deep snow on the track, 64 Amtrak passengers were finally able to reach their destination early Friday morning.

The Pere Marquette train left Chicago shortly before 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, with a normal estimated arrival time in Grand Rapids of 9:55 p.m.  Outside of Holland, the train got stuck in some snow, and it was unable to continue.  Amtrak was able to get a CSX locomotive to pull the train out of the way while a second CSX freight train pushed through all the snow, plowing a path.

At around 1:14 a.m. — nearly three-and-a-half hours later — the Amtrak train made it to its destination in Grand Rapids.

Amtrak issued an apology to all those who were inconvenienced by the delays.
