Scott Costner was released from jail Feb. 27.  According to a release from Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department, the victim said Costner violated a personal protection order and came to her home in Lawrence after being released.

Costner stayed in the home for the next several days using meth, forcing the woman to use meth and raping her, according to a release.

The victim escaped Wednesday morning and fled to her mother’s house, where she reported the incident to police.

Costner was previously behind bars for impersonating a firefighter, but posted bond and was released prior to these other alleged crimes.

He has been charged with first-degree criminal sexual conduct, possession of meth and a personal protection order violation.

The sheriff’s department said that during the period Costner was with the woman, she threw away meth lab components in dumpsters in Hartford and Lawrence.  She took investigators to those locations, according to a release.

Officials are still investigating where those meth lab components originated.  Anyone with information is asked to contact the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office at 269-657-3101, Silent Observer at 866-774-2345 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-342-7867.
