030914TEMPSWEST MICHIGAN — (Mar. 9, 2014) Temperatures fell into the teens and single digits Sunday morning making for a chilly start to the day but sunshine will help warm temperatures up as we start on a warming trend. Winds out of the southwest this afternoon will usher in some warmer temperatures for the start of the new work week. Temperatures will warm throughout the afternoon into the low to mid 30’s and continue warming into the overnight hours. Afternoon high temperatures will reach into the low to mid 40’s Monday giving West Michigan a nice break from the bitter cold temperatures at least for a little while. Temperatures will stay in the low 40’s through Tuesday until a cold front swings through the Great Lakes dropping temperatures ten to fifteen degrees below average Wednesday.

Winds will also increase this afternoon and become gusty. Expect sustained winds of ten to fifteen miles per hour with gusts in excess of 25 mph. Weather stays fairly quiet for the first half of the week before a cold front swings through Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning. A slight chance exists for light rain to transition over to light snow Tuesday night into Wednesday however the heaviest precipitation will stay out of West Michigan.
