FREDONIA TOWNSHIP, Mich. – The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department is investigating an explosion at a pole barn near Long Lake.

It happened Friday morning at about 11:30am south of Marshall.

The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department said there was no danger to the public and nobody was hurt.

According to The Battle Creek Enquirer, “John Wireman, the owner of a home there, was working in his 40-foot by 36-foot pole barn. Wireman is licensed to manufacture fireworks but was engaged in another task at the time the fire began, firefighters said. Flames spread to the fireworks material and caused several explosions, firefighters said.”

Emergency crews tell FOX 17 News that fire personnel remain on the scene to investigate.
