GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A key witness in a Labor Day 2012 shooting spree is going to prison after apparently lying during his testimony.

According to the Kent County Prosecutor’s Office, Manuel Rosado will spend between 10 and 50 years behind bars after they learned that he lied about his location after the shootings.

Rosado was currently on probation after pleading guilty to three counts of assault with intent to commit armed robbery.

He was initially sentenced to one year in jail for the assault charges as part of a plea agreement, according to the prosecutor’s office. His false testimony is considered a violation of his probation.

Rosado’s testimony led to the conviction of 25-year-old Michael Norris. Norris was found guilty in February of fatally shooting three people as they left a party store at Burton and Division on Sept. 3, 2012.

Rosado was with Norris during shootings.  Prosecutors say he testified truthfully about the details of the shootings but lied about where he went after he and Norris fled.

He was initially sentenced to one year in jail for the assault charges as part of a plea agreement, according to the prosecutor’s office.
