GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (Mach 20, 2014) — The decision to repair Grand Rapids city streets and sidewalks will be on the ballot after a circuit court judge dismissed a lawsuit on the proposal Thursday.

The judge ruled that the city did follow all proper procedures when scheduling the May election, according to a release.

The lawsuit was filed by Grand Rapids Taxpayers Association, whose members claimed that the city failed to meet the deadline for proposals to be certified by the county clerk.

An attorney for the group said that they’re trying to save Grand Rapids money because the election would be “invalid.”

The tax would last for 15 years and will be on the May 6 ballot.
