032104WEATHERWEST MICHIGAN — (Mar. 21, 2014) Although temperatures will rise throughout the afternoon Friday into the low to mid 40’s more winter-like weather is headed back into West Michigan.

A cold front will move into the Great Lakes region Friday evening allowing for light rain to develop. Temperatures should be well above freezing by sunset when light rain showers will develop. As the rain moves east across the area, a cold front will allow temperatures to drop especially north of I-96. Temperatures will likely drop to freezing after 10pm allowing for light rain to transition over to wet snow. Snow that develops Friday night should remain light with accumulations less than a half inch in almost all of West Michigan. Any chance for accumulating snow will come to Mid-Michigan where precipitation will be heavier and last longer.

Behind the cold front temperatures will steadily drop and continue to drop as more reenforcing cold air filters into West Michigan. By Sunday afternoon high temperatures will be around twenty degrees below average. We start a gradual warm-up through the work week however temperatures remain below average throughout the next 5 to 7 days.
