Appeals Court Extends Freeze on Gay Marriage in Michigan

gay marriage 11CINCINNATI, Ohio – A U.S. Court of Appeals judge has extended a freeze so Michigan county clerks cannot issue marriage licenses to gay couples.

The move comes after a stay was requested Saturday by Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette.  On Friday a federal judge in Detroit overturned Michigan’s ban on same sex marriage.

It is not clear how long the stay will be in effect.
