25753142-sfMONTCALM COUNTY, Mich. (March 26, 2014) — It’s called ‘Mom Prom,’ a night out for ladies and it’s all for a good cause. ‘Mom Prom’ was started in Canton back in 2006 and has since spread across the country. This year more than 40 events are being held.

Their goal is to raise money for a charity close to their hearts.  This is the third year for ‘Montcalm County Mom Prom,’ which is honoring Bree Town.

Town is a ten-year-old girl from Greenville who captured the hearts of many in her community. We featured her back in 2012 as she worked to pay it forward to other kids at Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital despite fighting her own battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.

After seven months of chemotherapy she learned she was in remission, but Bree relapsed and needed a bone marrow transplant. She just had surgery in February and is back home leukemia free and working to recover.

Nicole Eller, who is organizing this year’s mom prom took it over for the people who have put it on in the past and she left it up to Bree to pick the charity. “It’s her fight, its her courage, she has the most amazing personality. I followed her (on Facebook) the whole entire time and her story. My daughter donated her hair at one point. We followed it all along so that is something I wanted to get her involved in this year,” said Eller.

Eller says it was Bree who ultimately chose to donate the money raised to the Make A Wish Foundation of Michigan.

“The smile on everybody’s faces on that night is just amazing. If you’ve ever been to one you just know how great it is, it’s not about the party its about what its for,” said Eller.
