GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (March 26, 2014) — Increased sunshine won’t do much to boost temperatures around West Michigan Wednesday, with highs in the afternoon only making it back to around the freezing mark.

A few lake-effect clouds may try to redevelop at times, but high pressure should prevent any additional snow showers.

Clouds will increase late Wednesday ahead of the next weather system, which will bring a wintry mix to much of West Michigan by early Thursday morning.  An earlier band of accumulating snow should stay north of the FOX 17 viewing area, but may clip some locations north of Grand Rapids during the night Wednesday night.

As the above image from FOX 17 FutureTrack HD shows, the mixed precipitation will change over to rain as temperatures climb back into the 40s Thursday.

The additional rain, plus continued snowmelt, will contribute to further flooding concerns on already rising rivers around West Michigan.  Check the National Weather Service’s hydrology page for the latest information.
