CALEDONIA, Mich. — A volunteer has been dismissed for “misappropriating church funds” at Holy Family Church, according to a letter sent to parishioners.
The Diocese of Grand Rapids has confirmed the letter, but spokesman Carl Apple said in an email that he could add nothing more.
The letter, from Reverend Mark F. Bauer, said “we have evidence” that a volunteer misappropriated funds and service has been terminated.
Bauer also said financial information has been given to the Kent County Sheriff’s Department and that staff is unable to discuss it “so as not to interfere with the investigation.”
