ANN ARBOR, Mich. (April 2, 2014) — President Barack Obama will travel to the University of Michigan on Wednesday, to make remarks on his proposal to raise the national minimum wage.

The president wants to raise the current minimum wage of $7.25 per hour to $10.10 per hour.  Michigan’s current minimum wage is $7.40 per hour, and is one of 19 states where the minimum wage is above the federal level.

President Obama and fellow democrats say raising the minimum wage will help families and boost the economy, but opponents argue it will affect job growth, and ultimately hurt small businesses.
