Battle-Creek-police-cruiserBATTLE CREEK, Mich. (April 3, 2014) — Two men in their 50s have been charged after they both were involved in a fight late Wednesday night.

Battle Creek Police say that on Apr. 2 around 10:30 p.m., they responded to a “check welfare” call for a 57-year-old man in a parked truck at a home on East Emmett Street. A “check welfare” call asks officers to see if someone is okay.

Police found out that the man and another 58-year-old man inside the home had gotten into a fight in the home. Police say the 57-year-old is accused of hitting the suspect in the head with a chair. The other suspect fired one round at the truck while the 57-year-old was inside it, but no one was hit.

An Emergency Response Team arrived on scene after police tried to make contact in the home and no one answered. The suspect eventually surrendered.

The 58-year-old suspect was taken into custody and charged with assault with intent. The man he shot at is not in custody, but he also faces a charge of felonious assault.
