HOLLAND, Mich., (April 4, 2014)– Inspired by Cinderella, a single mother in Ottawa County is making some magic happen for high school girls who want to attend the next big dance. For nearly a year, Kailey Price has been collecting dresses to give away to students who cannot afford one to wear to Homecoming or Prom.

“At my dances, I had so much fun and had so many memories,” Price told FOX 17 News. “I want somebody else to have that, knowing everything I experienced.”

Price started with several dresses of her own, before launching the group “Formal Fairies” to collect more donations. She was able to hold her first dress giveaway last Fall, just in time for Homecoming.

“It was a smaller giveaway, but some of the stories that we heard while we were there…We ended up in tears over some of the stories that we heard,” she said.

Price also held a Spring giveaway a few weeks ago, but still has about 40 dresses at her home that could help any students in need this Prom season.

“Some of them are pretty simple, others are a little more extravagant,” she explained. “We have anything from like a size one, all the way up to, our biggest one is a size 16 right now.”

Students who are interested must present a school I.D. and fit a few other simple criteria.
