PLAINFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A driver failed to stop at the intersection of 7 Mile Road and Pine Island Drive and drove into a tree late Thursday night.
Timothy Hiemstra, 40, of Sparta was killed.
Hiemstra was driving in a Ford Focus around 11:20 p.m. eastbound on 7 Mile when the accident occurred, said a report from the Kent County Sheriff’s Department. He was the only one in the car.
It’s still too early in the investigation to know if alcohol was a factor, said the department.
