BANGOR TOWNSHIP, Mich. (April 5, 2014)- A woman is in the Van Buren County Jail after leading deputies on a chase through the county.

According to the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department, 29-year-old Tiffani Johnson-Oliver left a gas station on Red Arrow Hwy and 59 1/2 Street in Hartford Township at a high rate of speed after seeing a deputy pass by. When the deputy was able to catch up to Johnson-Oliver, she took off at a high rate of speed.

During the pursuit, the driver blew through stop-signs, drove at a high rate of speed and recklessly. After several miles, the driver went off-road into an orchard and cornfield. Then Ms. Johnson-Oliver bailed out of her vehicle on foot and attempted to hide in a 55 gallon barrel behind a pole barn. Van Buren County Deputies then called out a K-9 unit and tracked her to her hiding spot. Ms. Johnson-Oliver was then taken into custody.

She is being held on fleeing and eluding charges and a bench warrant and is currently being held at the Van Buren County Jail awaiting arraignment in a Van Buren County Court.
