Holland Couple Gets Sick Eaten at “Wild Chef”HOLLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. (April 6, 2014) — According to the restaurant, Wild Chef Japanese Steakhouse Grill and Bar will re-open on Monday.

The Ottawa County Health Department told FOX 17 Wednesday it was contacted by numerous people who said they fell ill after eating at the establishment.  The department then contacted Wild Chef.  Restaurant management voluntarily closed, said a health department official.  There is an active health department investigation underway.  Wild Chef will have to be re-inspected prior to it opening its doors again.

The Ottawa County business closed after people began complaining that they were becoming sick.

A staff member at the restaurant, located at 2863 West Shore Dr., Holland Township,  said the building is being cleaned extensively and owners are working with the Ottawa County Health Department.

News that the restaurant was closed came on the same day the health department issued a statementwhich stated foodborne illnesses are on the rise in the county.  But the health department said the illnesses linked to Wild Chef were only a percentage of the cases.  Part of the health department’s investigation is to find out how many cases are linked to Wild Chef.

A check at recent restaurantinspection reportsshows the restaurant was in compliance when health officials last checked it in October 2013.
