GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (April 7, 2014) — The winter of 2013-14 is pretty much over, and it’s likely no surprise that most of the state had above normal snowfall amounts.
Grand Rapids had a total of 114.2 inches, which was 40.3 inches above normal and also the second snowiest winter on record.
In Muskegon, the total ended up at 131.1 inches, which is 38.6 inches above normal.
A look at other snowfall totals shows that most cities ended up with a snowfall suplus:
- Lansing: 68.4″, 18.4″ above normal
- Detroit: 91.7″, 50.2″ above normal (2nd snowiest winter)
- Flint: 82.6″, 36.7″ above normal (3rd snowiest winter)
- Sault St. Marie: 128.7″, 13.1″ above normal
There were only a few locations that had below normal snowfall:
- Alpena: 63.3″, 16.8″ below normal
- Houghton Lake: 58.9″, 5.2″ below normal
- Marquette: 170.2″, 21.6″ below normal.
