GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (April 7, 2014) — Much of West Michigan could miss out on substantial rain Monday, with temperatures remaining within a few degrees of average through most of this week.  In general, there are no big storms or significant changes ahead, which at this point in the year is usually good news.

We’ll be on the back edge of the rainfall during the afternoon and evening Monday, as a dry breeze from the northeast tries to fight off moisture spreading northward from the Ohio Valley.  The main area of low pressure will track well to our southeast, but some areas along and east of I-69 may still receive rain totals of a quarter to half-inch.  There will be a sharp cutoff to the back edge of the precipitation, meaning that it is questionable how much rain, if any, will fall in areas like Grand Rapids, Allegan, Hastings, Ionia, and Greenville.  Locations along the lakeshore should stay dry.

Beyond Monday evening, dry conditions should prevail for the middle of the week before some rain returns Thursday.  Temperatures will gradually climb into the 50s and 60s for the second half of the week.
