MUSKEGON, Mich (April 9, 2014) —  The West Michigan Lake Hawks are a semi-professional basketball team from Muskegon that recently completed their 1st season in the American Basketball Association (ABA) and finished ranked 14th out of 32 teams.  “Could not ask for anything better for the 1st year, I think we exceeded expectations” Lake Hawks head coach Ron Jenkins said.

The Lake Hawks have been extremely active in the Muskegon community partnering with Big Brothers Big Sisters, The City of Muskegon Heights to hand out Christmas gifts, Timberland Academy for mystery reading night, they put on a basketball clinic at the Muskegon County Juvenile Detention Center and hold autograph signing nights.  “Joining these local organizations that are already in place we’re hoping that we can help the community develop into a bigger and better place to be”  Jenkins said.

Next season, the Lake Hawks hope to improve upon their early success both on and off the court.
