The school said Oliver Evans, who retired in 2012 after 18 years as Kendall’s president, has agreed to serve as interim president after current President David Rosen resigned.

During Evans’ 18 years in charge, Kendall nearly tripled in size, growing to about 1,400 students. Evans also helped oversee the school’s merger with Ferris State University.

Other developments under Evans included Kendall’s partnership with ArtPrize and developing graduate degrees, including Ferris State’s MBA with an Innovation and Design Management component from Kendall.

Evans said he believes his familiarity with Kendall will serve as a bridge to the next chapter of the college’s history.

“It is an honor to again serve on behalf of the students, faculty and staff at Kendall,” he said. “My goal is to continue to build upon the successful partnership Ferris and Kendall have forged since their merger almost a decade and a half ago now.”

Concerning Rosen’s resignation, Kendall spokesman Marc Sheehan said that personnel issues such as employee resignations are considered confidential under university policy. However, he said Kendall accepted Rosen’s resignation with regret.
