Cross Dressing Bank Robber Identified

Todd KooikerOTTAWA COUNTY, Mich. (April 12, 2014)- A 51-year-old Georgetown Township man is currently in the Ottawa County Jail on charges of Bank Robbery and Fleeling and Eluding after allegedly robbing the Community West Credit Union in Hudsonville on Friday.

According to Captain Mark Bennett of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department, Todd Allen Kooiker, 51-years-old from Georgetown Township has been charged with bank robbery and fleeing and eluding. He is being held on a 200,000 dollar bond.

The bank robbery happened at the Community West Credit Union in Hudsonville at approximately 10:14 a.m., according to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department.   Employees told police the man entered the building dressed in women’s clothing, robbed the credit union of an undisclosed amount of money and fled on a motorcycle heading south.

At about 10:30 a.m., deputies say they located the man driving in the area of Port Sheldon and 88th Avenue in Blendon Township.  They said he dumped a blonde wig sometime during the pursuit.

Authorities continued to chase the suspect as he headed northbound on 96th Avenue, eventually turning east on Filmore.

As he attempted to change directions to head west on Filmore, deputies said he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed.

He was taken to an area hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.  Deputies said they recovered evidence linking him to the robbery.

He will be identified pending formal arraignment.
