Three Year Old Girl And Her Father Taken To The Hospital After Being Struck By A Car

PORTAGE, Mich. (April 13, 2014)- A 44-year-old father and his three-year-old daughter were taken to Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo after being struck by a car Sunday morning while walking on the sidewalk.

According to the Portage Police Department, the accident happened the 7800 block of Primrose Lane around 10:30 a.m. Sunday morning. Officers state that a car was being driven southbound on Primrose Ln. when the driver failed to negotiate the curve at Trail Ridge Ave. and left the roadway.

The car then went over the curb and struck a 44-year-old Portage man and his three-year-old daughter, who was seated in a wagon on the sidewalk. Both were transported to Bronson Hospital where they were treated and released. The driver of the car was uninjured.

The accident remains under investigation by the Portage Police Department.

Police do believe that excessive speed was a factor in the accident.
