WEST MICHIGAN (April 14, 2014) — With three to five inches of rain tallied this past weekend across our northern counties, rivers in those locations are continuing to rise…in some cases rapidly! FLOOD WARNINGS remain in effect for three rivers in our immediate FOX 17 viewing area in particular.

Those rivers include the Muskegon River in Newaygo County below Croton. The White River above Whitehall in Muskegon County. And the Rogue River in Rockford in northern Kent County. Here’s the very latest:

The current stage of the Muskegon River below Croton is 12.2 feet. Flood stage is 9 feet, the river is expected to crest on Tuesday at around 12.9 feet. If it exceeds that and crests at 13.0 feet, it will be considered major flooding and not moderate flooding.

The current stage of the White River above Whitehall is 6.7 feet. Flood stage is 6.0 feet, and the river is expected to crest on Tuesday at around 7.1 feet. That’s considered moderate flooding.

The last river in our immediate area under a FLOOD WARNING is the Rogue River in Rockford. Flood stage is 8.0 feet, is currently at 6.7 feet, and is expected to crest on Tuesday at 7.9 feet.

Elsewhere in our viewing area FLOOD ADVISORIES are in effect as rivers approach/or are at bank full. The FLOOD WARNINGS mentioned above will not be removed from those rivers until they fall BELOW flood stage!
