Coast Guardsman Facing Sex Assault Charges

CLEVELAND, Ohio (April 15, 2014) – A Coast Guardsman that’s accused of sexually assaulting a fellow service member at a party in Wisconsin has been assigned to Station Grand Haven while the case against him unfolds in Military Court.

In a press release issued Tuesday, the Coast Guard 9th District announced charges have been filed against Petty Officer 3rd Class Joshua M. Raymond.

He’s accused of violating Article 120 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice for allegedly committing abusive sexual contact on a fellow service member during a party in Wisconsin on or about November 27, 2013.

Raymond is also charged with attempted sexual assault and for allegedly making false official statements during a Coast Guard Investigative Service investigation.

The Coast Guard 9th District says Raymond was assigned to Coast Guard Sector Lake Michigan in Milwaukee as an operations specialist when the alleged crimes are said to have taken place.  Following the investigation, he was moved and assigned to Station Grand Haven, Mich.

The Coast Guard 9th District also stated in a release the charges are accusations against Raymond, and he is presumed innocent.  The identity of the alleged victims have been withheld per Coast Guard policy.
