JENISON, Mich. (April 15, 2014) — The state is investigating the accidental death of a 100-year-old woman at Sunset Manor Retirement Communities and Services in Jenison.

According to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department, Sarah Bredeweg was found dead Sunday morning after she got caught between her mattress and bedrail and suffocated.

Bredeweg had been a resident at Sunset Manor for several years and she was mostly self-sufficient.  The sheriff’s office said there were no signs of foul play.

The investigation will be conducted by Michigan Department of Human Services Bureau of Children and Adult Licensing and is standard protocol, officials said.
