DETROIT, Mich. — A Monday night candlelight vigil remembered three teenagers who died during a police chase Sunday.
According to FOX 17 NEWS affiliate WJBK FOX 2 in Detroit, the 17-year-old driver lost control of a suspected stolen vehicle while fleeing from police at a high rate of speed early Sunday morning.
Officers temporarily lost sight of the vehicle during the chase, and when they came upon it again it was turned upside-down and crashed against a median on the Interstate 75 service drive.
The driver — Charles Miller — plus two friends who were passengers — 14-year-old Cynthia Zaraharas and 16-year-old Suhali Alvarez — all died from injuries suffered in the accident.
