Two Separte Fires Keep Fire Crews Busy In Kalamazoo

KPS FIREKALAMAZOO, Mich. (April 26, 2014)- Two house fires at separate homes kept Kalamazoo fire crews busy Saturday morning.

According to the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety, the first fire happened in the 1000 block of N. Park St. around 8:30 a.m. with smoke coming from the roof. The resident living in the home told fire fighters that he was trying to smoke out some birds in his attic when he accidentally set the house on fire. The fire was quickly extinguished, and no one was injured.

The second fire happened around 10:30 a.m. Saturday morning in the 1400 block of Forbes. When fire crews got on scene they saw heavy smoke coming from the attic and roof areas of the home. Fire crews were able to get the fire out quickly and no one was injured in this fire.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Kalamazoo Fire Marshall.
