griffinsABBOTSFORD, CA. (April 27, 2014)- Six different Grand Rapids Griffins scored goals in a Saturday night rout of the Abbotsford Heat in Game 2 of their first round Calder Cup Playoff Series.

With the game tied at 2, late in the first period, Cory Emmerton put the puck past Abbotsford goalie, Joni Ortio for a shorthanded goal and the Griffins didn’t look back on their way to a 7-2 win in game 2.

Andrej Nestrasil (2g, 1a), Teemu Pulkkinen (1g, 2a) and Ryan Sproul (1g, 2a) all had three points for the Griffins in the Game 2 victory, which came a night after Grand Rapids’ draining double-overtime win in the series opener on Friday. Trevor Parks and Jeff Hoggan also scored and Petr Mrazek had a quieter night than he did on Friday only stopping 15 shots.

The Detroit Red Wings announced Sunday morning that they have sent Riley Sheahan, Tomas Jurco, Xavier Ouellet and Jake Paterson back to Grand Rapids.

Game three is Wednesday night, back in Grand Rapids at Van Andel Arena with the puck drop schedule for 7 p.m.
