LOWELL, Mich., (April 28, 2014) Travis Stiehl, 22, was arraigned Monday afternoon after investigators say he made child porn videos at a Kent County daycare.

According to a probable cause affidavit, the investigation was initiated by the Department of Homeland Security with assistance from the Michigan State Police. Back on Dec. 5, 2013 police say Stiehl admitted to viewing and possessing child sexually abusive material on his computer.

After a forensic exam on his computer investigators say they made contact with Steihl again last week. In the affidavit investigators say he was reinterviewed and admitted to manufacturing videos of unclothed, prepubescent boys. The affidavit says he stated he made three videos, investigators say two of the videos were made at the Lowell residence.

That residence is a formerly licensed daycare. State records show the license was revoked on Dec. 11, 2013. It isn’t clear whether the children in the videos were from the daycare.

Stiehl was charged with two counts of child sexually abusive activity and two counts of using a computer to commit a crime.  He is currently being held on a $250,000 bond and could also face federal charges.

He will be back in court May 9.
