MUSKEGON COUNTY, Mich., (April 28, 2014)– A woman accused of arranging a hit on her husband with help from her sister was sentenced to six years in prison Monday.

Diane Hart was arrested for the plot one day after filing for divorce from her husband of 17 years.

Hart, along with her sister Vicki Brill, were caught on camera in November 2013 arranging “the hit” in a Norton Shores shopping center parking lot with an undercover officer. Investigators said the women handed over rings as a down payment and agreed to pay $5,000 dollars once the job was done.

During Hart’s sentencing, her attorney said that Brill was actually the one who initiated the plot.

Both pleaded “no contest” last month to solicitation of murder.

Hart, who was emotional in court, apologized before the sentencing.

“Sorry for all the mess,” she said tearfully. “I wish I wouldn’t have gotten drug into it.”

Muskegon County Prosecutor D.J. Hilson told FOX 17 News that video of the incident proves Hart is equally as guilty as her sister.

“I don’t agree with the statement that she was dragged into it, I look at her as a willing and equal participant in this…She paid the undercover officer the down payment, she provided a picture of her husband as to who she wanted killed and even participated in the conversation about how it was going to happen.”

Hart said she planned to appeal.

Brill is scheduled to be sentenced in May.
