Suspect Arrested in Kalamazoo Double Shooting

KALAMAZOO, Mich (April 29, 2014) – Detectives with the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety say a suspect is in custody after two people were shot on Sunday.

Both detectives and patrol officers were able to arrest a 35-year-old Kalamazoo man in the 2000 block of Inverness Lane around 2:45 p.m. without incident today.

Charges for the suspect will include assault with intent to murder and felony firearms charges.  The 35-year-old won’t be identified until after he’s been arraigned.

The shooting on Sunday happened in the area of Trimble and East Main around 4:30 p.m.  Two people suffered gunshot wounds in the shooting.  A 23-year-old Kalamazoo resident was shot in the foot and later released.  A 24-year-old Kalamazoo resident was shot in the back and is currently listed in stable condition in the hospital.
