KALAMAZOO TOWNSHIP, Mich (April 30, 2014) – More than two dozen officers helped arrest 10 people following an extensive investigation into methamphetamine manufacturing at a residence in Kalamazoo Township on Wednesday.

18 officers from Kalamazoo Township and the Southwest Commercial Auto Recovery Team (SCAR) helped raid a home in the 3100 block of North Pitcher Street around 4:00 p.m.

Five adults were in the yard when officers arrived.  Another four adults and an infant were in a vehicle in the driveway, and another five adults were inside the home.

Two of the adults in the yard ran off into a wooded area surrounding the home when officers arrived.  They were caught hiding in a factory nearby with the help of K-9 units from the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety.

Authorities say three active “one-pot” meth labs were found inside the home, along with several other meth-related components.  The Kalamazoo Township Fire Department and Pride Care Ambulance also assisted with the response to the meth materials.

Investigators say 10 of the 14 adults at the home were arrested and lodged at the Kalamazoo County Jail.  Three men and four women were arrested on 13 outstanding warrants including possession of meth, fraud, and failure to appear in court.  Another woman was arrested for violating her felony probation orders.  Another man was arrested on meth and pot charges, and another man was arrested for resisting arrest and for being a felon in possession of a firearm.  A 12-gauge shotgun was also seized from the home.

Another woman was arrested on pending child abuse charges due to the conditions her infant was exposed to at the home.

A Child Protective Services worker and the Department of Human Services helped place the child with another family member shortly after the arrest was made.

Authorities say two trailers were seized from the property that didn’t have vehicle identification numbers.
