A deputy with the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department spotted a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed in a residential area in the Village of Lawrence around 3:45 p.m.  The initial sighting was near the intersection of E. Saint Joseph Street and Blackman Street.

The deputy attempted to make a traffic stop, noticing the motorcycle didn’t have a registration plate.

The driver refused to stop, speeding onto Red Arrow Highway trying to get away.

A chase ensued involving the deputy and MSP Troopers, exceeding speeds of 100 miles an hour at multiple times.  The motorcyclist turned into a grassy field in the area of Territorial Road near 68th Street and lost control.  He attempted to get back on the roadway, but the motorcycle stalled leading to his arrest.

The motorcyclist is facing multiple charges, including fleeing and eluding and driving with a suspended license.
