GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (May 5, 2014) — The Aero Med helicopter remains voluntarily grounded Monday.
Spectrum Health spokesman Bruce Rossman said they hope to have Aero Med back in flight within 24 to 36 hours, and that they are still waiting for the Federal Aviation Administration to approve flights.
Spectrum stopped Aero Med flights Thursday evening after “a potential administrative error.” It is unclear what exactly that error is.
Since Thursday, Rossman said the Aero Med crew has been going to accident scenes using ground transportation. He said Spectrum is also using crews in Traverse City and Kalamazoo to help fly patients in certain cases.
