You-Decide-2014-300×250-Cube.jpgWEST MICHIGAN (May 6, 2014) — Tuesday was Election Day across the state.

In West Michigan, money issues dominated the ballots.

You could say Grand Rapids was home to the most controversial issue: a city income tax rate renewal.

The issue grabbed headlines after the proposal faced a legal challenge and an appeal before appearing on the ballot.

Voters also weighed in on a measure that shifts the burden of sidewalk repairs from homeowners to the city.

In Kalamazoo County, voters living in the nine school districts faced the question of whether to renew a millage for the Kalamazoo Regional Educational Service Agency.

The money would be divided among the districts, with schools getting about $322 per student.

Voters in Vicksburg were also faced with a bond issue for building repairs and upgrades.

Some voters in the county also saw a public library millage renewal request.
