COMSTOCK PARK, Mich (May 7, 2014) — Tigers relief pitcher Luke Putkonen threw a scoreless 7th inning Wednesday for the West Michigan Whitecaps as part of a rehab assignment.

Putkonen has been on the disabled list since April 19 with inflammation in his right elbow. Putkonen retired 3 of the 4 batters he faced allowing just a 1 out single to Ivan Castillo.

“It went good, I threw all my pitches and attacked the hitters, it was good to get back out there, I made sure I threw a few curve balls threw some of my splits, I just want to get back in the rhythm of pitching.

The Whitecaps won the game 4-1 over Lake County, it was the 4th straight win for West Michigan.

Putkonen is scheduled to pitch again Friday in Toledo for the Mud Hens.
