VAN BUREN COUNTY, Mich (May 7, 2014) – Two people will likely face drug charges after a narcotics investigation that spanned two West Michigan counties.

Wednesday morning, officers with the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit conducted surveillance on two people in reference to possible drug activity in the Village of Paw Paw.

Officers followed a vehicle driven by a 51-year-old Schoolcraft woman who made several stops in the Paw Paw area.  A passenger in the vehicle, later identified as 33-year-old Michael Drew of Vicksburg, was seen buying several items and materials needed to manufacture methamphetamine.

Drew was eventually dropped off in the Paw Paw area where narcotics officers made contact with him.  Officers then learned there was a warrant out for his arrest in Kalamazoo County for Retail Fraud.  He was arrested and lodged at the Van Buren County Jail for that outstanding warrant.

At the same time officers were with Drew, other officers continued to follow the 51-year-old driver that dropped him off, making a traffic stop just north of Schoolcraft in Kalamazoo County.

Officers found multiple baggies of finished meth product, meth smoking paraphernalia, a gas generator, and other meth making materials in her vehicle.  She was arrested on several pending drug charges.

The case against Drew and the 51-year-old woman from Schoolcraft has been forwarded to the Van Buren County Prosecutors office for review.  The name of the woman involved hasn’t been released pending arraignment.
