GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (May 12, 2014) — Family members could be seen comforting a woman whose husband was shot while in his bed early Monday morning on the city’s southeast side.
The man was taken to the hospital after someone sprayed up to 20 bullets at his family’s home on Adams Street at about 1:15 a.m., said Grand Rapids Police.
Family members identified the man as ‘James,’ a 65-year-old man who was shot in the upstairs bedroom of his house. One of the bullets went through the wall, grazed the sheets and a mattress before hitting him in the back.
The bullet just missed the man’s spine, the family said. Right now James does not have feeling in one of his legs, but he is expected to survive.
The Grand Rapids Police Department said it is investigating the case as a possible drive-by shooting and are searching for the suspect.
