NEWAYGO COUNTY, Mich., (May 27, 2014) — Family members are in mourning after learning crews recovered the body of Brandi Humphrey Tuesday morning. The 35-year-old  mother of three disappeared in Kimball Lake Sunday  after jumping off a pontoon boat to cool off.

Family members say Humphrey, who had gotten engaged one day before the incident, was a good swimmer.

“She could swim, something must have happened,” Kevin Humphrey, her cousin, told FOX 17 News. “It was just shock, nothing but shock.”

Kevin Humphrey, who grew up with Brandi, said the family is now trying to be strong for her two youngest sons, ages 12 and 9. They’re also remembering her for being vibrant, full of life and love.

“She loved her kids, she loved everybody, loved her family,” he said.  “You were happier with her just being there.”
