MECOSTA COUNTY, Mich. – A global search is underway for a teenager who sheriff’s deputies said sexually assaulted a 15-year-old Big Rapids girl before ‘fleeing the continent.’ And there may be more victims out there, said investigators.
The following news release was sent by the Mecosta County Sheriff’s Department.
The Mecosta County Sheriffs Office is currently investigating a sexual assault complaint that occurred during the early morning hours of Sunday 5-25-14 in Green Twp. The investigation has revealed that the suspect, an 18 year old Big Rapids man sexually assaulted a 15 year old Big Rapids girl. The suspect is believed to have fled the continent via air travel to the south pacific to avoid/obstruct the ongoing investigation. Additional leads are currently being followed up on that indicate the possibility of multiple suspects and multiple sexual assault victims from the same incident location. MCSO has been assisted in the investigation by The MSP Emergency Services Unit, BRDPS, FSUDPS, ICE. As more information is gleaned from the investigation the media will be informed when applicable.
