Saugatuck Wins Best “Summer Weekend Escape” In USA Today Poll

800px-Water_and_Covered_Dune,_Looking_North,_Saugatuck_Dunes_State_Park,_MichiganSAUGATUCK, Mich., (May 30, 2014) Just in time for tourism season, one West Michigan town is gaining a lot of attention, the City of Saugatuck voted #1 in a USA Today poll for the best “summer weekend escape.”

Rounding out the top three, include Ganbury, Texas and Sedona, Arizona. Felicia Fairchild, the Executive Director of the Saugatuck-Douglas Visitors Bureau says the win helps solidify their position as a major player nationally. ‘Its so exciting to us, 20 years building this brand finally getting this national recognition.”

David Langley, owner at Serendipity Bed and Breakfast says he sent emails out to the some 800 people on their list to get them to vote. He says he got alot of responses one in particular stood out. “Lets see, one guest said Sedona, Arizona cant hold a candle stick to Saugatuck.”

Fairchild says they may also plan a victory party sometime in the fall to celebrate and thank all the people that voted for them.
