Suspect Arrested After String of Break-Ins in Fruitport Township

fruitport cruiserFRUITPORT TOWNSHIP, Mich. (May 30, 2014)– The Fruitport Township Police Department, aided by the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office, has arrested a suspect who allegedly broke into three businesses in the Village of Fruitport.

According to Police, employees at three different businesses in close proximity arrived to work the morning of May 29th to find their businesses broken into, and cash and other valuables missing.

Norm’s Ice Cream, Fruitport Oil Change, and Village Inn on North 3rd Street were all broken into.

Police reviewed surveillance footage from the businesses and were able to identify a 41-year-old male suspect.

Police were able to locate the suspect May 30th, after they found him hiding in a vacant mobile home in Hidden Oaks mobile home park in Ottawa County.

The suspect was taken into custody.

His name hasn’t been released yet, pending arraignment.
